This vintage 1949 Royal KMG typewriter works perfectly! This rugged and dependable typewriter was built to last. It weighs close to 17 pounds! It has a hard, well made plastic outer shell, but is made from steel. The keys are made of glass. It was made by the Royal Typewriter Co. Inc. New York in the United States of America and is protected by American and foreign patents.
The mechanisms work extremely well. The exterior is a olive green. Sought after color. There are some minor scratches, and natural patina due to its age. (Please see pictures) A little light cleaning has been done.!
This fantastic typewriter also features an extra long carriage, perfect for typing with papers of various widths. The carriage measures 15", which is rare and very difficult to find. This in an office model that is meant to be used on a desktop, which means that it was not originally made with a carrying case. This particular model was announced on February 10th, 1949. It has touch control, a ribbon color selector, and tabulator. The hinged top makes it very easy to access the interior of the typewriter for ribbon replacement and cleanings. It needs a spool ribbon to be installed and it will be ready to type!
